HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 2, 2014) – Angel Stadium was host to the third and final round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship held in Anaheim, Calif. in 2014. A crowd of 42,139 was on hand and Fox Sports One broadcast the event live to a worldwide audience.
Josh Grant suffered a crash in practice which further aggravated his already sore shoulder. He has been recovering from a hard crash at the Phoenix round and has been forced to cut back his practice and training program during the week in order to be able to race.
Justin Brayton transferred to the main event finishing second in the first heat race. Grant struggled during qualifying ultimately earning a gate in the main from the LCQ. In the main event Brayton began the race just inside the top-10 with Grant toward the rear of the field. Brayton settled into seventh place during the early laps and moved into sixth on lap 13. Grant soldiered through the pain and managed to finish in 17th with Brayton sixth at the checkers. Brayton currently holds the 450SX Class consecutive starts streak at 36 races. During the streak he has 14 top-five finishes and six podiums.
The next round of the series will be held on Feb. 8 at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium. Fox Sports One will air the race live beginning at 10:30 p.m. (EST). Timed qualifying will stream live on supercrossonline.com beginning at 5:00 p.m. (EST).
