Blountville Race Report
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 7, 2015) – Round four of the 2015 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship took place at Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tenn. The first motos aired live on MAVTV, and the second 450 Class moto was broadcast on NBC. All of the concluded races are archived on Promotocross.com and can be viewed on demand free.
Justin Barcia holeshot the first moto with Phil Nicoletti just behind. As the two teammates led the field Barcia slid out on the freshly watered surface and crashed, nearly collecting Nicoletti in the process. Nicoletti was wearing the FRAM Cam live stream helmet camera and he and the MAVTV audience had a perfect view of Barcia’s mishap. At the conclusion of the opening lap it was Nicoletti in first, Weston Peick fifth, and Barcia battling his way forward in 20th after the crash. After leading the early laps Nicoletti settled into fourth, which he maintained to the checkers. Peick was seventh and Barcia had worked his way up to 10th.
Barcia was toward the front again at the start of the second moto but inadvertently went off the track briefly and had to find a re-entry point between the track banners which relegated him from third to sixth. Nicoletti was fifth, and Peick ninth after lap one. Peick suffered a minor tip over that set him back to 15th on lap two. As Peick worked forward Barcia and Nicoletti were fifth and sixth respectively until just past the halfway mark. On lap 10 rain began to fall causing the track to become slippery and clear vision to be more of a challenge. At the finish of moto two Barcia finished sixth, Nicoletti was ninth, and Peick 11th.
FRAM, the official filtration provider of the AutoTrader/Toyota/Yamaha Team shot a series of “done right” videos featuring the team riders, which are hosted on FRAM’s website. During the live network broadcast on NBC, the video Starts Done Right was aired to the audience.
Nicoletti’s combined scores earned him fifth overall for the day, with Barcia eighth and Peick ninth. All three riders are in the top-10 in series points with Barcia fifth, Peick seventh, and Nicoletti ninth after four of 12 rounds.
Round five of the 12-race series will be held at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pa. on June 13. The first moto will air live at 1:00 p.m. (EST) on MAVTV, and the second moto will be broadcast at 3:00 p.m. (EST) on NBCSN.
