Miller Motorsports Park Results
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 18, 2013) – The penultimate round of the 2013 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship was held at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. It was the first pro national to be held at the facility. The last time a pro national was held in Utah was in 1973. Miller Motorsports Park hosts numerous motorcycle and automobile road racing events, and was proud to debut the all new motocross track two years in the making. The first motos aired live on the NBC Sports Network and the second motos were broadcast live on Fox Sports 2 (previously known as FUEL TV).
Just hours before Josh Grant was to board a plane and fly to Utah his young son was injured badly enough to need treatment at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital. After Grant and team owner Coy Gibbs discussed the situation it was decided that Grant should stay home with his wife and son. Thankfully the family has reported that their son is recovering nicely thanks to the doctors at Loma Linda Children’s hospital.
Justin Brayton gated perfectly at the start of moto one pulling the holeshot on his YZ450F. After some early race shuffling he settled into sixth position and rode a steady 30 minutes plus two laps for sixth place. Brayton began the second moto at the front of the pack in the top-three. He rode the entire moto inside the top-10 finishing seventh. His six – seven moto scores earned him fifth overall, his first top-five of the season and his best finish to date.
26,585 were in attendance at last week’s Unadilla national. There were 47,000 live starts online. FUEL TV had a broadcast audience of 55,000 for the first motos, while the second motos which aired live on the NBC Sports Network were watched by 159,000.
The final round of the series will be held at Lake Elsinore Motocross Park in Lake Elsinore, Calif. on Aug. 24. The NBC Sports Network will broadcast the first 450 moto live at 3:30 p.m. (EST). The second 450 moto will air live on Fox Sports 2 at 6:00 p.m. (EST).
